Tornado tore through Queens badly with trees everywhere and making a mess of the roads!
New York City got lucky this tornado or mini tornadoes didn't do more damage b/c a way bigger tornado might do some really awful damage and cause many casualties - People need places to go for shelter and plenty of warning in the future! There was a late tornado watch issued and it's hard to predict where tornadoes might tough down but definitely a scary day and night for many New Yorkers!
This tornado was an ef1 or even maybe ef2!
Trees all over the place in parts of Forest Hills Queen from the September 16 New York City Tornado
I drove past some amazing sites to see with trees all over the place and uprooted from the ground - many on people's lawns plus it hit not too far from where I live and I was in Brooklyn during some of it by Park Slope so I was in the path of the storm for sure.
New York City Tornado Devastation Pictures
On September 16, 2010 - between 5:30 and 6pm - Parts of New Jersey, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens and possibly even Long Island was hit with major thunderstorms which produced strong lightning and tornadoes (some say microbursts but trees were uprooted and thrown like I've never seen in my life - looked like one real quick tornado or a few mini ones in places) As you can see the damage is serious and devastating with down power lines and trees in the middle of the roads and on people's houses plus cars!
